For the past several years, Mr. Goldstein’s practice has been devoted primarily to the handling of claims involving catastrophic injury and death. While he has handled such cases in a number of different contexts - motor vehicle incidents, medical malpractice, defective products, and industrial incidents - he has developed a special expertise and emphasis in his practice with respect to the handling of such claims in the context of tire failure litigation.
Since handling his first tire failure case in the late 1980's, Mr. Goldstein has prosecuted more than 25 such claims and has recovered more than $50 million on behalf of victims of defective tires. These clients include individuals who have suffered severe brain injuries, amputations, quadriplegia and paraplegia, as well as individuals who have lost beloved family members in tire-related motor vehicle accidents. Because of his expertise and experience, Mr. Goldstein has been interviewed by national and local media, both television and newspaper, to address various issues regarding tire failure in automotive product liability litigation.
With the exception of Mr. Goldstein’s first tire failure case in the late 1980's, his prosecution of all of the other tire litigation matters since then have resulted from referrals from other attorneys, across California and around the country. Many of these cases were referred outright to Mr. Goldstein, while other cases were prosecuted jointly by Mr. Goldstein and the referring attorney as co-counsel. While each of these referring attorneys had his own areas of expertise, they each appreciated the value of having a lead attorney with the knowledge and experience to address the technical and complex issues presented in this unique area of the law.
